Community Service
An important part of our program is teaching the children that serving others is a critical part of who we are and as God blesses them, they are to bless others. Jesus called us to "love one another" and their is no better way to demonstrate that love than by serving others.
The children are invited to serve through a number of different opportunities and programs, including our feeding program, village ministry, assisting at other orphanages, facilities for disadvantaged or handicapped individuals, and helping windows and orphans by working to repair a house or provide a caring hand. Their role may include handing out a bag of food, helping paint a poor widow's house or leading a bible study with village children.
This element, we believe, is what Maison de Lumiere, or The Lighthouse, is all about -- to go out to the rest of Haiti and to shine the light of Christ in all we do.
