Feeding Program
One of the sad realities
for children living on the streets of Haiti is that they get used to
going days without food. And because of their sporatic eating patterns
and the lack of nutritional food, malnutrition is rampant. The children
with orange hair are everywhere and are living evidence of the malnutrition
on the streets. That is why we try to feed as many children as possible
as often as we can. However, this is not a part of our regular budget
and is completely dependant on the generousity of visitors and others
who wish to support this program.
When possible, we like to
provide meals in a friendly atmosphere where the children can feel assurance
that someone nearby cares. In addition to the meal, the children often
sing songs, hear a Bible story, make crafts, watch puppet shows and
even periodically receive medical exams and treatment from visiting
medical/dental teams.
Attending children may even
transition into our residency program, depending on availability and
others may get sponsored to attend school.
